Pig Out, Our Place We Go To Everytime We are in Miami July 9, 2010
We drove to NW 29th Street and 17th Ave to a place we always come back to when we are in town, the place is called "Pig Out" and Julie is the owner. We have been going here for many years! Let me describe this to you, It's about the experience not just the food, first of all there is vary limited parking, so good luck with that. You walk up to a counter that is outside, you place your order and watch them make it! They serve mainly one thing Roast Pork Sandwiches, so yummy! They take a whole leg shank pull it out from behind a glass sliding door that they keep the meat in, to keep it warm. She throws it on the counter and with a big ass knife she starts whacking away at it, chopping it up into small pieces, crispy skin and all. There is something appealing about seeing a thin good looking woman take control of this huge piece of meat with this meat cleaver of a knife. I am sure her husband or boyfriend fear her! She places the chopped pork on the most wonderful soft Cuban Bread you can imagine, there are three or four other women behind the counter preparing this sandwich for you, they all speak Spanish. They hand it off to another lady she wrap's it in this white soft paper and twist it at both ends and then puts it in a brown paper bag. You can get hot sauce on it or on the side, but get the hot sauce. You can eat at the counter or do what most people do eat in the car with air condition on because it is 98 degrees outside. You unwrap this soft paper and you hold this sandwich with two hands and you feel the soft bread between your fingers and the smell of the pork just hits you in your senses, you take that first bite and well....your hooked!.
